Japanese Kimono & Yukata The Art of Traditional Japanese Dress

The Kimono (@i) is Japan's most iconic traditional garment, a T-shaped wrapped front garment with square sleeves that has been worn for over a thousand years. Each kimono is a wearable work of art, with patterns and colors that convey the wearer's age, status, and the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between kimono and yukata?
Kimono is the general term for traditional Japanese wrapped garments, typically made of silk with formal patterns. Yukata is a specific type of casual cotton kimono originally worn as bathrobes, now popular for summer festivals and casual occasions. Yukata are lighter, simpler to wear, and more affordable than formal kimono.
Is it difficult to put on a kimono?
Traditional kimono dressing (kitsuke) requires practice and several accessories. We provide detailed dressing instructions and video guides with each purchase. For beginners, we recommend starting with a pre-tied obi (musubi) or a yukata, which is much simpler to wear. Custom-made kimono with adjusted proportions are also easier to manage.
